The Role of Cultural Studies as a Mediator of Intercultural Learning in Foreign Language Teaching, Particularly in German as a Foreign Language

It is evident that with the current political and economic situation in Europe inter-cultural communication is a necessity. A tool in the process of communication is Ianguage; in a multicultural Europe this means the languages of the particular nationalities. This fact increases the importance of Ianguage education with the goal of creating communication competence. The creation of communication skills and habits is more effective if it reflects real communication situations, ones which are connected to the needs of providing and receiving information. In the process of Ianguage learning, two things should be involved, Ianguage learning itself and also studying generál cultural knowledge. For this reason, foreign Ianguage teaching today is founded on a principle of integration. This principle assumes the complex character of foreign Ianguage learning, and therefore in the current didactics of. foreign languages, together with Ianguage knowledge, points out the importance of sociolinguistic and inter-cultural knowledge and skills which help one to learn the foreign Ianguage, so students can adequately communicate without any misunderstandings. Teaching English through drama methods

This bachelor´s thesis deals with teaching English as a foreign language at primary school. This thesis summarizes methodological approaches to teaching foreign languages, describing and comparing the predominant methods of drama education and teaching English. Furthermore the thesis describes and compares educational and dramatic games. Later, this bachelor´s thesis explores the application of specific methods of drama education (for example role playing game, pantomime and improvisation) in specific English lessons. Thus, this thesis provides examples of using specific drama methods in teaching English.
Analysis of Language Courses for German Speaking Students

8 Abstract This master thesis deals with actual form of Czech courses for German speaking people and it is especially focused on the company courses. Theoretical part describes communication in companies between Czech and German employees and principles of adult education with taking specific features of company surroundings into consideration. In practical part, the courses organisation in selected company and in several language schools is investigated. Further, specific form of courses is described by the lectors and students evaluation. The aim of the thesis is to characterize organisation and implementation of Czech language courses for German speaking people and to define the typical features of these courses. On interference between Czech, Russian and English in language learning

The thesis deals with second language acquisition (SLA) of Czech in Russian and English students. It presents the main theories of SLA (generative and cognitive approaches) and compares them to the results of author's research into L2 acquisition of Czech morphology and syntax in speakers of two typologically and structurally different mothertongues. It shows that language transfer plays an important role in SLA and that some of the generative assumptions about SLA that are claimed to apply universally cannot be proven for Czech.
French for specific purposes as a linguadidactic problem

The aim of the thesis is to give the eoherent view of teaehing French for specific purposes and to contribute the improvement relevant to the specific subgroups of didactics of foreign languages: didactics of French for specific purposes. The thesis contains the theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part deals with the different conceptions of generál and specific language learning in the introduction. It is followed by mapping out historical development of didactics of French for specific purposes as a foreign language. The next chapter of the theoretical part presents contemporary trends in teaehing French for specific purposes completed by knowledge how to outline the content of teaehing French for specific purposes. Further the attention is devoted to teaehing a foreign language for specific purposes according to certain Czech linguadidactic_work. The following chapter features the terminological differentiation of the key terms 'language for specific purposes' and 'specific style'. There are mentioned the problems of theory of functional styles and the profile of specific and administrativě styles. Teaching English in Preschool Children

This thesis deals with the teaching English in preschool children. The first part of the thesis analyses developmental assumptions of preschool children for learning a foreign language. Moreover, it compares two different views of scientists, Piaget and Vygotskij, on the relationship between development and learning. The second part of the thesis characterizes the best-known methods in language teaching in preschool children in the Czech Republic. All five language schools reported use a direct unwitting method that is successful and natural way of language learning children up to the age of seven years old. The thesis highlights the advantages of each method and presents a concrete example of the use of their combination in practice.
